Biennale 2012 :The Jury wanted to award the Golden Lion in "The Master" ?

Lido - "Hollywood Reporter" and "Deadline" claim to have heard from sources that until the last minute, the Golden Lion did not have to go to Kim Ki-duk but in Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master". For, "Hollywood Reporter", Michael Mann and his jury wanted to give the film Anderson the highest award, in addition to the double award for best actor Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix and the Silver Lion, but due to a "formally" in the Rules of the Festival was subsequently decided to award "Pieta". The new rules prohibit a film festival gets more than two prizes, then the jury would be asked to re-act to remove one of the two prizes. After a discussion rather than on, the Golden Lion was awarded to Pieta. The directors were informed of this change last night.
